Exercising is greeted with mixed emotions.
On some days it is a necessary activity, on other days it is all a person can think of doing. And on some days, this can seem like a daunting task.
Especially on days when motivation is low. When you don’t want to leave the house or don’t feel like sweating indoors. Considering the current pandemic, gyms should not be crowded. This means your desired time slot may not be available. But skipping class doesn’t have to be an option. The next best alternative? Exercise.
Hassle-free workouts that require little to no equipment and still keep you fit. However, weight training is often overlooked due to misunderstandings. We looked into it to clear some of them with this blog.
Gymnastics: Past to Present
Gymnastics was created from ancient Greek; kállos (beautiful) and sthenos (strength). Overall, it can be defined as the art of using body weight as resistance to develop an impressive physique.
Gymnastics is said to have originated in Ancient Greece, recorded as a special regimen for Alexander the Great and the Spartan troops at the Battle of Thermopylae.
Modern-day gymnastics is a form of street sport that is done as a routine in urban areas. Individuals and groups train to perform advanced gymnastics skills such as muscle strengthening, levers, and freestyle movements such as spins and flips. Today, this community has gained so much popularity that they have an olympic-like community, organized by the WSWCF. Athletes of all ethnic groups and types come together to showcase their superhuman feats on the world stage. This is an extraordinary spectacle.
Why You Should Try It

Looking easy, gymnastics gives the impression of basic training. But it’s far from that. Apart from the benefits of regular exercise, gymnastics also offers several special benefits.
- Strength: Gymnastics is all about balancing and fighting gravity. Thus, significantly improving strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and agility. It also strengthens joints, tendons, and ligaments while stressing muscles to provide healthier strength gains.
- Aesthetics: Gymnastics engages the major muscle groups – chest, core, back, arms and legs. Plus, you’ll use multiple muscle groups at once, effectively burning more calories. This causes you to lean back and effectively build muscle quickly, resulting in an enviably toned body over time.
- Functionality: Gymnastics is one of the highest forms of functional exercise. It combines and builds on all the basic movements performed by bipedal creatures. This allows you to stay lean and still display incredible strength.
While it may not be the best way to gain bulk, Calisthenics is ideal for a muscular, high-functioning body that can last a lifetime. Longevity is the most guaranteed outcome of this.
